Hades II Guides
When leaving a Location in Hades II, the Door will show a preview of the Encounter Reward should you choose this path. A Location can have up to 4 exits. Locations in the Fields of Mourning contain multiple Encounters and thus show previews for multiple rewards.
Doors are split into Minor Finds, Major Finds, and Special doors. When using Dice to reroll a Door, Minor Finds will always become a different Minor Find; Major Finds will always become a different Major Find; and Special doors cannot be rerolled.

Progression[edit | edit source]
Each Region consists of an initial Outlook Chamber that does not count against the # of Chambers. In Erebus and Ephyra, Melinoë will gain a Boon or Daedalus Hammer to start their journey, and then face a small number of monsters. In all other zones, there are no foes or rewards. Except in Erebus, this zone will also include an outlook spot where you can see a large artistic view of the region.
The second-to-last Chamber will always include the option for Charon's Shop. If alternate exits exist, they will lead to a room with your reward, but no foes.
The last Chamber is the Region Guardian, who is fought in a special arena.
After the Region Guardian is the Post-Guardian Fountain Chamber, which also does not count against the # of Chambers. Initially it contains a fountain which heals you for ??? Health. This can be upgraded with Incantations, up to a maximum of ???. Further Incantations can also add a Well of Charon and the option to switch Keepsakes
The exact number of Chambers in each zone varies, as does the Depth at which various events can occur. See individual Region pages for details.
(Terminology note: the game refers to Chambers as Locations; Chamber is used to more clearly delineate a single room versus the entire Region)
Reward Selection[edit | edit source]
(Note for returning players: this system is largely unchanged from the original Hades)
Encounter Rewards for Door Previews are selected randomly from a Bag of options. They are then checked against eligibility, both for the character and for that room. Certain rooms have restricted eligibility (Mini-bosses can only have Boons, etc). If a reward is not eligible, it is returned to the bag after a valid selection is made. If no rewards in the bag are eligible, the bag is refilled with another copy of it's original contents (plus any ineligible rewards already remaining in the bag).
Multi-exit rooms cannot show the same reward, except for Boons. If multiple Boons occur, they will always be for different gods. The god for a Boon is not selected until after it is picked as an eligible reward. Rewards for Doors that are not picked are still removed from the bag, making it less likely to show up until the bag is refilled.
Reward Bags[edit | edit source]
Rewards are divided into a number of separate Bags. Each bag can have multiple copies of the same reward, making that reward more common. Some options are only eligible if certain listed conditions are met - they remain in the bag, but cannot be selected yet. Some options are also unavailable if you have only completed a few runs.
Note that ineligible rewards will build up in the bag until you become eligible. For instance, the entry for a second Daedalus Hammer exists in the bag even before reaching the Fields of Mourning, and each time the bag is refilled an additional entry is added, increasing the odds of that Reward. Once the second Daedalus Hammer is actually picked up, all remaining copies in the bag become ineligible and will be skipped over. Equally, copies of the first Daedalus Hammer continue to build up in the bag even after acquiring it, but since these are forever ineligible they have no further affect and can safely be ignored.
Using Dice to reroll will pull additional items from the bag, allowing a Bag Refill to occur quicker than it usually would. This can be especially effective in the City of Ephyra, where the initial Hub Setup consumes most of the initial bag. It is also possible to have as few as 6 eligible items in the Tartarus bag upon entering the Region, making it more easily refilled.
Any rewards not chosen are gone from the bag, and will not appear again until the bag refills (this applies per copy, so if the bag still has both Centaur Heart options, skipping one will still allow for the second copy to appear)
Eligibility[edit | edit source]
Poms of Power will only spawn once you have at least one Boon that can benefit.
Centaur Heart, Soul Tonic, and Golden Crowns in the Major Find Bag have a second copy that requires you to have at least 1 Boon from an Olympian God.
Daedalus Hammers and Hermes Boons will not spawn if you already have two, although you can sometimes acquire a 3rd via Echo's Boons. You also cannot acquire more than one Hermes Boon in the same Region. The second Hermes Boon will only occur if you have cleared at least 8 Encounters total. The second Daedalus Hammer will only spawn after 2 Regions have been cleared, making it impossible to drop on the Surface.
Selene will only show up if you don't have her Hex yet.
The Path of Stars cannot show up in Erebus, or more than once per Region. It will not show up until you have acquired a Hex, and it will stop showing up once your Hex is fully upgraded.
The Trial of the Gods requires at least 8 Encounters cleared, and at least 2 in the current Region. You must have a Boon from two different Olympian Gods. It must be at least 15 Locations since the last Trial. And finally, the Room must have 2 exits.
