Boons

From Hades 2 Wiki and Guides
Hades 2 Boons List

Boons are powerful gifts from the Gods to aid Melinoë on her journey in Hades II. Boons only last for the duration of a run. They disappear when Melinoë dies or finishes the run.

They can be usually be obtained as rewards for clearing a room's encounters, or purchased from Charon's shop.

Once she has boons from 4 Core Olympian Gods, Melinoë will only see rooms for Gods she already has Boons from. Keepsakes from additional Gods can be used to override this and add a 5th+ God. Boons from Hermes and other characters do not count against this limit, and will still be offered.

Region Based Boons and Traits[edit | edit source]

Region Based Boons and Traits are other type of help Melinoë can get on her journey, but those bonuses do not have Rarity levels and are less sophisticated than the major Boons.

Arachne is found in Erebus and grants special Silken Armor Outfits that last while Melinoë has Armor.pngArmor

Narcissus is found in Oceanus and gives Melinoë various Items.

Echo is in the Fields of Mourning. Her boons grant Melinoë various echo-related bonuses, copies of last rewards and boons from previous nights

Hades is captive in Tartarus. His boons grant Melinoë powerful bonuses in the fight against CodexPortrait Chronos.pngChronos

Medea is in the City of Ephyra, and can weaken foes or make encounters more rewarding

Circe is in the Rift of Thessaly, and grants Melinoë Arcana and size related bonuses

Icarus is also encountered in the Rift of Thessaly and boosts Melinoë's attacks and defenses

Boon Elemental Essence[edit | edit source]

Elemental Essence.png

After some progression Boons will get Elemental Essence traits that can be used to get extra bonuses. Later on, Gods will offer special Boons that require specific amount of Essences from all the Boons to be activated.

All the Boons from the Main Olympian Gods are assigned a fixed Element.

The easiest way to get specific elemental essences is to go for specific Gods or Boons that have them. Although the game offers different ways of getting elemental essences besides Boons, they are not very reliable.

Upgraded Boons[edit | edit source]

Upon defeating a mini-boss Encounter, any Boon reward will be upgraded. The exact chances of each Rarity vary from Region to Region, and can be found on that Region's page.

Charon also occasionally sells Upgraded Boons. The exact mechanics of that upgrade are unknown at this time.

Core Boons[edit | edit source]

On the UI, there are special slots for the Attack, Special, Cast, Sprint, and Mana Recovery boons. These Boons are also listed first in the Codex and Boon List entries. Only the Olympian Gods offer Boons for these slots, and you can only have 1 Boon in each slot. Note that some Boons affect these without being Core Boons; for instance, Apollo Boons.pngApollo's Super Nova Boon increases Cast Area, but is not a Core Boon.

Sacrifice Boons[edit | edit source]

Occasionally a God will offer you a Core Boon for a slot you already have filled. This new Boon will be upgraded one rarity (to a max of Heroic), and will retain any Pom of Power.pngPoms of Power applied to the Boon it replaces. If accepted, this will sacrifice the Boon currently in that slot.

Beware when using the Concave Stone Keepsake, and Echo's Boon Boon Boon for they can select Sacrifice Boons!

(Note: Hestia Boons.pngHestia's Boon Burnt Offering does not count as a sacrifice Boon, as it cannot benefit from Pom of Power.pngPoms of Power)

Boon Priority[edit | edit source]

Priority 1: Core Boons[edit | edit source]

If you lack any Core Boons (Attack, Special, Cast, Sprint, and Mana Recovery), all three Boons offered will be Core Boons, and either Attack or Special will be available.

If you have at least 1 Core Boon, at least 1 Core Boon will be offered. There is a 10% chance this boon will also be a Sacrifice Boon.

If you have an eligible Priority Status Boon (Slippery Slope, Dazzling Display, Furnace Blast), there is a 25% chance it is selected.

Priority 2: Regular Boons[edit | edit source]

If the above process didn't fill all three slots, roll for rarity in this order

  • Legendary, if eligible
  • Duo, if eligible
  • Epic
  • Rare
  • Common (including Infusion Boons)

Once rarity is selected, the slot is filled with a random eligible boon of that rarity.

Priority 3: Out of Options[edit | edit source]

If there are not enough eligible boons remaining, the remaining slots will be filled with eligible Sacrifice Boons.

If there are still remaining slots, fill them with eligible Legendary or Duo boons that didn't hit the rarity chance in the previous pass.

Rerolling[edit | edit source]

When using Dice.pngDice to reroll Boons, one of the offered Boons from the screen will be ineligible to appear, ensuring at least a slight change even when low on choices. This is checked after selection is done, so a high-priority boon that should be offered can be removed in this way.
